As many of you might of heard, mosquers is back again. if you don’t know what mosquers is, well basically it is a play on the oscars with a muslim twist to it. it is an outlet to encourage the musliim youth and by youth the age is not limited but rather we want the current and future nations of our communities to be more actively involved in getting islam the correct attention it deserves through the biggest form of communication the media& entertainment. This contest is in its 4th year of operation and continues to become more successful every year with special guest judges and hosts always willing to participate in our event.

Maturity and its Responsibilities

The Markaz Ul Islam youth committee has arranged for two sessions aimed at discussing and teaching our young brothers and sisters on matters related to maturity, puberty and growing up. These are topics that parents are not comfortable discussing with their children or just do not know how to bring it up. These are matters of great importance that can only be addressed properly in the light of the Quran and Sunnah.

We strongly ecourage parents to send their youth between the ages of 12-20 for this session. There are two sessions one for boys and another one for girls.

The Boys session for ages 12-20 will be held on Saturday, January 16 following Dhuhr Salah @ 1 PM.

The Sisters Session for ages 12-20 will be held on Sunday, January 17 following Dhuhr Salah @ 1 PM.

The content for both sessions will be provided by Imam Iqbal Subrathi. The Boys session will be moderated by Imam Subrathi and the sisters session will be moderated by a sister from the Women’s Committee.

All sessions will be held at the Markaz Ul Islam Mosque in South Edmonton.
Refreshments will be served following each event.

IFSSA’s Youth Development and Parental Education Program hosts their Annual Youth/ Family Violence Program Strategy Planning Session for 2010 – Start the new year with a new vision!

We want to hear from youth and parents, and we need your help on:

What are youths AND parents into these days?
How do youth network with each other?
What is the new trend out there?
What Educational Development do Muslim families need in our community?
What tools do Muslim Families need to foster a healthy relationships and prevent Family Violence?

With the information you provide us, IFSSA can create programs around what YOU feel is needed.

Session 1: Jan 5th, 2010 – 5:00 – 9:00 PM (youth session)
Session 2: Jan 12th, 2010 – 5:00 – 9:00PM (parent session)
